How to apologize sincerely
A good apology is not about getting off the hook. It is about repairing trust. That takes owning it fully, without the excuses and the buts that quietly cancel the whole thing.
Name what you did, specifically
Vague apologies feel fake. Show you understand exactly what you did.
"I interrupted you in front of the team and dismissed your idea. That was disrespectful."
Do not add a but
"I am sorry, but you also" erases the apology. If you truly want to repair, own your part cleanly and leave their part for later.
Acknowledge the impact
Show you get how it landed for them, not just that a rule was broken.
"I imagine that made you feel like your work does not matter here, and that is not okay."
Say what you will do differently
Change is what makes an apology believable. Name the specific thing you will do next time.
Then give them space
Do not demand instant forgiveness. Apologize, mean it, and let them have their feelings on their own timeline.
